Tom Saal

THOMAS J. SAAL is a Senior Vice President for Hencorp Becstone Futures, LC where he provides risk management and trade execution in energy futures and options. Previously, Mr. Saal held senior-level positions with Commercial Brokerage and Pioneer Futures where he provided full-service brokerage services for his clients in the natural gas and oil markets. In 1991, Mr. Saal founded Merrill Lynch's first natural gas futures trading desk and served as a senior financial consultant. Prior to the position with Merrill, Mr. Saal cut his teeth on the physical side of the industry as a fuels analyst, fuel planner and rate analyst for Florida Power & Light Company from 1986 to 1991. He started his career in 1983 as a financial analyst with Natomas North America, Inc./Diamond Shamrock, and was comptroller of public accounts-Texas, economist, from 1984 to 1986. He holds a Masters degree in Economics from the University of Houston.

Ed Kennedy

EDWARD KENNEDY is a Senior Vice President for Hencorp Becstone Futures, LC where he provides risk management and trade execution in energy futures and options. For 39 years he has been helping to develop and execute trading and hedging programs for his clients across various commodities and exchanges. He began his professional career as a Nymex and Comex floor broker working through the ranks of companies such as Aspinwall Associates, Dean Witter Reynolds and Calcaterra Inc. In 1991 he left the floor to help co-founding the first natural gas trading desk for Merrill Lynch. In this position with Merrill, as with similar positions held more recently with Pioneer Futures and Commercial Brokerage Corp., Mr. Kennedy has provided trading advice and brokerage services for a wide array of energy market clients including: natural gas producers, marketers, end users, ldcs, utilities and managed money funds. He holds a Masters in Philosophy from Georgetown University.

Al Bean

AL BEAN currently holds various positions related to natural gas hedging and price risk management across several organizations. He is a partner with A.C.T. Energy Management, a Director of Operations for Clarke-Mobile Counties Gas District in Jackson, Alabama and a principal in Al Bean Natural Gas Purchasing and Risk Management Services. In his role with A.C.T. Energy Management, which he helped to found in August 2006, Mr. Bean has worked to support municipal natural gas managers in the ever changing energy environment. Prior to 2006, Mr. Bean worked for 20 years across a in various positions for the Southeast Alabama Gas District. As the Director of Gas Management in 1997, Mr. Bean established and administered the district’s Natural Gas Price Management Program. This program encompassed the company’s formal natural gas hedge management program; the company’s storage asset management strategy; and the company’s industrial market based pricing initiative. Mr. Bean holds a Masters of Business Administration from Troy State University-Dothan and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Auburn University. Mr. Bean is currently serving on the American Public Gas Association Board of Directors and has previously served as Chairman of the Gas Supply Committee for the American Public Gas Association.

Bert Kalisch

BERT KALISCH is the President and Chief Executive Officer for the American Public Gas Association. Since Mr. Kalisch assumed this role in 2004, APGA has placed it focus on advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill and at the federal regulatory agencies, increased membership in each of his five years, enhanced communications and information exchange between and among members, improved its financial stability and relocated its office to Washington, D.C. Since 1994, Bert worked on numerous energy policy issues such as market transparency, energy markets, pipeline safety, energy efficiency, and other matters relating to the natural gas industry. Prior to joining APGA in 1999, he served as Senior Counsel and Director for the American Gas Association in its Government Relations Section. Before entering into the energy industry, Bert practiced law in Northern Virginia. Bert received a law degree (JD) from George Mason University (1988), a Masters of Science in Business Administration (MSBA) from Boston University (1982), and baccalaureate degrees (BA) in General Science and Environmental Studies from Coe College (1980).
